![]() ![]() See this thread: Root - PX5 HU with Android 9.0!ģ. You have to root yourself.and even then you'll still only get partial root. You don't have full system control and there isn't a root manager (like SuperSU/Magisk).but most root apps work straight from the factory. It comes with a 9" 1280x720 screen (others are 圆00)Ģ. The GTA one is a PX5 4gb RAM with 64GB storage/Android 9.ġ. They're just rebadged to different manufacturers. If you want to purchase an Android Head unit I have now discovered that most of these Chinese-based PX5/PX6 Android Head Units are functionally the same no matter which manufacturer you buy them from. ![]() If you really wanted to you could probably re-wire the factory usb/audio aux-in to the head unit.but I didn't/won't bother with it. ![]() And while I am handy with a soldering iron it would still be a PITA with the limited workspace on top of the Sienna dash/installed harness.Īnyways, the camera works! The backup camera displays on both the headunit and the original tiny factory screen. Yes, soldering is more secure but I wanted to do something that's easily reversible. I used 18-22gauge T-Taps since I'm still waiting for the PosiTaps to arrive in the mail. #3 black goes to the reverse wire harness on the head unit. ![]() #1/#2 black/white goes to the video-in rca harness on the head unit. #3 pin3 This black wire (pin3) is the reverse signal which tells the head-unit/car to display the camera image. Then on the opposite side of the harness plug there's a black wire right next to a purple wire. #2 pin15 white is video- for the rca sleeve. #1 pin14 black is video+ for the rca pin. The black wire and white wire next to each other (pin 14/15). Unplug the larger harness connector from the back of the tiny info screen. Pull up the faux-speaker grill on top of the dash. Here's how you get the factory Backup Camera to work: Both the GPS and Microphone work and are "invisible". I mounted the Android microphone underneath the faux-speaker grill on top of the dash. You're supposed to mount a GPS antenna on a metal plate anyways.so the physical head unit works. I mounted the Android GPS Antenna right on top of the actual head unit and underneath the dash. What doesn't work: Stock Microphone/Stock GPS Antenna/USB and Audio Aux-in port/XM Radio Antenna/Backup Camera. Audio sounds the same as stock but more configurable (I spent very little time with the stock unit). Installation: Everything installed easily. I was able to get the OEM backup camera to work (more below). Well, I found out that the 2011-2014 LE backup camera does NOT work out-of-the-box (even though the website claims it does) and GTA was absolutely no help (no it doesn't work, buy an aftermarket camera). It's more expensive than other Android Head Units but I went with them because they are based in NA (someone to call), have a Sienna installation tutorial on youtube, and all the key car functions are supposed to "work" after plugging in their harness. Head Unit: I bought one from GTA Car Kits. The actual installation is very easy if you know what you're doing in advance. I wanted to share my experience here in case anyone wanted to do the same.as it took me a lot of thread searching to get it done. I just installed an Android Head Unit to replace the terribly outdated cd/radio unit. ![]()
